Mondelēz International, the world’s largest snack food company, is planning to expand further into Saudi Arabia and has signed a distribution joint venture in the kingdom with Olayan Group and Khalifa Algosaibi Group, it was announced on Tuesday.

Abdullah bin Abdul Mohsen Al-Turki, secretary-general of the Makkah-based Muslim World League (MWL), will chair the maiden meeting of the general assembly of the new Halal International Authority (HIA) in Riyadh on Wednesday. During the meeting, Al-Turki will announce the names of the members of the HIA’s first board of directors, who will hold their meeting immediately afterwards at the same venue to discuss several important subjects, including the formation of the authority’s legal committee.

RIYADH: A delegation of Saudi Food & Drug Authority (SFDA) left for Pakistan Saturday to hold talks with major players in Pakistani food sector and to register them to ensure exports of a range of food products including meat from that Asian country to Saudi Arabia. The Saudi delegation’s plan is also to visit the meat exporting companies’ facilities in different Pakistani cities with an aim to award licenses to them and above all to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the state-owned Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP).
