DUBAI- The third Global Halal Industry Platform, organised by the Emirates Authority for Standardisation and Metrology, ESMA, will open tomorrow in Dubai with the participation of 300 experts and specialists from around the world.
The two-day platform is expected to be launched by Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, Minister of Economy and Chairman of ESMA, and will be attended by experts and officials, who will discuss the key challenges facing the international halal system and how to overcome them, as well as innovations that will achieve balance between growth in the industry and compliance with Islamic Sharia.
Abdullah Al Maeeni, Director-General of ESMA, said that the platform’s third edition will witness important discussions, to be raised for the first time, on the role of banks in the innovation and empowerment of the halal industry, and the role of the media in introducing the public to the halal industry, as well as hearing from a variety of key officials from the banking and financial sector.
He noted that the platform was transformed last year into a specialist international initiative, and the current edition will help ensure the creation of diverse innovations in the halal industry, including in halal food, hospitality and tourism, beauty products and cosmetics. International experts will also meet on an annual basis in Dubai to discuss their achievements and confront the challenges of the previous year, he added.
