When it comes to halal, it’s all about trust, according to some in the trade, but with a lack of labelling and the constant debate over stunning, that trust might be hard to come.
Chilled processed food was one of the best performers within the broader French packaged food market in both value and volume terms in 2010. Sales were underpinned by strong demand for natural products beneficial to health and wellbeing, combined with increased innovation and consumers eating in more regularly. Euromonitor International’s Anastasia Alieva looks at how the channel grew over the last year.
Jealous, a new manufacturer of high end sweet-gifts made from natural ingredients and suitable for people with dietary or ethical requirements, is launching its offering exclusively through Selfridges this month. Jealous candy gifts have been available from 27 July at London’s Oxford Street Selfridges store, which has an exclusivity period of six weeks.
Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak announced that Malaysia has gained global recognition as a resource center for countries seeking information on the development of Halal industry.

On 1st August 2011, the Orthodox Union (Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America), the nation’s largest Orthodox Jewish umbrella organization commended a Washington State appellate court for its decision to uphold Washington’s Humane Slaughter Law, permitting kosher and halal slaughtering of animals.
